Please be warned that there are spoilers ahead. The Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) Series
The Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) series is an adventure/storybook comedy rpg with some elements of a mystery game (the best comparison would be those "Choose Your Adventure" books). Originally, the first three games in the series were released on the Game Boy Advance system and only in Japan. However, they were re-released (with modifications made) on the Nintendo DS system since 2005 and were also localized for the American and European markets. Currently there are four titles released in the series, where the first three revolves around Phoenix Wright, a rookie defense attorney and his journey being a defense attorney, and the fourth game revolving around Apollo Justice, also a rookie attorney. As the title of the series probably already suggested, in each installment in the series, the player plays as the (rookie) defense attorney (Phoenix Wright for the most part in the first three games, and Apollo Justice starting from the fourth game) with the objective to obtain a non-guilty verdict for the client in each case through investigations, the use of edvidences and cross-examinations in court. Since the game was originally released in Japan, it is based on the Japanese justice system, which is very different from the American system. Although the names/settings etc. are localized for the American/European relases of the series, the justice system used in the game stays roughly the same as the Japanese justice system.
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
As opposed to the first three titles of the Ace Attorney series, Apollo Justice becomes the main character in the fourth game, and Phoenix Wright simply becomes a minor (yet still important) NPC throughout the game. For the fourth installment, the story mainly focused on explaining what happened between the third and fourth installments of the series, as well as the ties between the previous protangonist, Phoenix Wright, and the current protangonist Apollo Justice (as to why the torch has been passed). Through a roundabout way of events, the player will learn that everything that has happened is connected to a case 7 years ago, during which Phoenix Wright lost his attorney badge (and hence has to change his career).
The fourth game kept many of the gaming elements from the previous three games, but new elements were added to compensate the different abilities of the new characters.

Who is Trucy Wright?
Name: Trucy Wright
Japanese Name: Naruhodou Minuki (成歩堂みぬき)
Age: 15
Occupation: Magician/Apollo's Assistant/CEO of Wright Everything Agency
Trucy gives off the mysterious magician vibe when you first meet her during the first case in the game. However, when you meet her for the second time in the Wright Talent Agency, you'll immediately notice her bright and cheerful nature.
Throughout the rest of the game, Trucy becomes an assistant to Apollo and helps him with his court cases and investigations. Although sometimes her methods can be questionable (perhaps something she picked up from Phoenix), her intentions are always genuine. Trucy actually makes a good assistant, since she posesses the same ability as Apollo -- the power to perceive people, but unlike Apollo, she can use this ability on her own without the use of an aide.
As a magician, Trucy regularly performs at a place called the "Wonder Bar" with her favorite tricks "Mr. Hat" and the "Magic Panties". It is also through her shows that Trucy earns a living to support both Phoenix and herself, as Phoenix has become nothing more than a piano player who cannot play piano.
